Our
Story
The Gorge Sustainability Project is the brainchild of Julie Tucker and Cindy Allen.
These 2 women met from their involvement with the Gorge Rebuild It Center in Hood River, OR. They both have a love of Mother Nature and wanted to do something to save our Mother Earth from becoming a land of our waste.
Julie has years of experience in the materials management industry with her company, Emerald Systems. An arm of materials management is recycling. After several years of community requests for a way to recycle “difficult to recycle” materials, Julie reached out to Cindy who was interested in starting such a program and voila! The Gorge Sustainability Project was born.

Their mission is to create a sustainable program for the community that allows an outlet for difficult to recycled items and provide educational and action opportunities to RETHINK * REDUCE * REUSE * RECYCLE in that order!
